Impact of Smart Phone on learning English Language among Graduate Level Students in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Pakistan)
Abstract
The present study investigated the impact of smart phone on English language learning. The objectives of the study were i) to investigate the role of smart phone in learning English language among graduate level students in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ii)to what extent university students make use of modern technology in learning English language. A questionnaire was used for the collection of data. Two hundred forty 240 students from three universities i.e. Hazara University, Abbotttabad University and university of Haripur, were selected using random sampling. Eighty students from different departments were selected from each university. The collected data was analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean and chi square. The findings of the study indicated that majority students possessed smart phone and latest software for multiple applications. The respondents perceived that smart phone is the best tool and it plays vital role in learning English language.They thought that it should be used in educational setting. They considered it as useful device for improving one’s knowledge and they used it as alternative to English teachers. They shared that smart phones led in self-learning. Majority of the respondents explained that they have improved their English pronunciation, listening skills, speaking skills, reading and writing skills with their smart phones.
